root canal tuesday

I'm obsessed with this book I'm reading, so I have to make this post fast so I can get back to it. FYI- it's "The Help." Love it love it love it.

Okay so I went to the dentist today because a week ago I got a couple fillings and they have caused me occasional bouts of excruciating pain since that great and dreadful day. The dentist, who is hilarious and mysteriously very tan, made me a bet as I settled into that great and dreadful dentist chair that I would need a root canal. After he checked out some x-rays he shouted Hooray- he won the bet. Then he pulled on his powdered rubber gloves, and revved up the drill. Um what? Dr. Pinnegar, you can't be serious, you want to give me a root canal right NOW? "Yes sirree let's send those wimpy tooth nerves to nerve heaven." I must have been so in shock that he called my tooth nerves wimpy that I let him do it. So, today I got my first root canal. And a large prescription of Loratab.

freezing stuff

I'm pretty excited right now. I made some delicious vegetarian chili about 2 weeks ago and had a TON leftover. Generally in this situation I would throw out the leftovers because I HATE leftovers, which is very wasteful and selfish of me because all those starving children in Africa could have eaten my very delicious leftovers, and given the option I would be glad to send it to them if I had an address to send it to, but the fact is I don't, so that means mr. trash can gets to eat my delicious leftovers and geez, he probably doesn't even appreciate them as much as someone with a stomach and tastebuds would. Anyway, the point is 2 weeks ago, after I realized I had enough leftover chili to feed a family of 4 for a week, I thought twice about my wasteful habits and decided to freeze it. For the first time in my life, I froze my leftovers. So then today, after a long day at school I came home and skeptically pulled those delicious leftovers out of the freezer, popped them in the microwave for a few minutes, and hallelujah! They are delicious! I would go so far to say they are even more delicious than 2 weeks ago. What a beautiful discovery that will save the Hartmans much future time and money. My mother would be so proud.
